Leading the way with Ghazmyne Wade | Personal Trainer | Pensacola, Florida

What’s inspired you to enter into the world of health & fitness? What’s your story?

Fitness has always played an important role in my life. I was extremely active throughout my youth because I was a cheerleader, ran track, and on the dance team. I first started strength training in 2013 and I greatly enjoyed seeing how my body transformed just from lifting weights and eating better. However, as the years progressed I got a little off track with my fitness goals. I seriously neglected myself physically and mentally. My self esteem and confidence suffered tremendously. In 2018, I was severely depressed and I no longer recognized myself in the mirror. One day, I decided enough was enough and I "turned my pain into power!" I let go of everything that was holding me back and decided to focus solely on myself. I made a commitment to myself to take better care of myself and reclaim my power. I wrote down my fitness goals and I started going harder in the gym. Fitness truly became therapy for me and I fell in love with it all over again. When I recognized my gifts, I decided I wanted to empower other women who have lived with depression and couldn't see a way out. So, I began working on my fitness brand "Body Goals By G." My vision behind my brand was to help others reach their body goals and to encourage mental wellness. Ever since then, I've been dedicated to empower others. Fitness has opened up my world and inspired me to help others be the best version of themselves (mentally and physically) and stand confidently in who they are!

What’s Your Training Style? (bootcamp, one-on-one, group?)

My training style is group fitness. I believe a major component in being physically fit is being around others who have similar goals of leading healthier lives. Working out within a group fitness setting will help motivate you when things get a little hard. I currently teach dance fitness at a local fitness studio. The empowering energy I feel from the ladies who take my class is so amazing!

What are some of the barriers (if any) that you face as an African-American in the fitness community? How do you overcome them?

I'm just getting started in the fitness industry. So, thankfully, I haven't faced any barriers. If I do, I'll stand boldly in who I am. I'm a natural born fighter and I'll always fight for what I believe in.

My motto is "Be Your Own Body Goals". This motto is how I created my brand. We are our own competition and we all have to learn to love ourselves and be who we are at all times.

What’s your primary vision and mission as a trainer? How does this translate in your work with current or potential clients?

My primary vision and mission as a trainer is to empower women to feel confident and to fall completely in love with themselves. My brand "Body Goals By G" is all about encouraging women to be their own body goals. Fitness is about living a healthier lifestyle. Sometimes we get discouraged because we don't look like someone else. I strive to encourage women to love who they are no matter their shape or size.

What impact do you desire to make in your community?

The impact I desire to make in my community is one that leaves women full of self love, self empowerment, and mentally and physically healthy. Everything starts with a healthy mindset!

Where do you see your business in the next 5-10 years?

In the near future, I foresee many amazing opportunities within my business. My first goal is to open up my own women's fitness studio that will provide women with a variety of ways to get fit. I will teach pole, dance, and yoga within my studio. I also plan to lead women empowerment seminars to build confidence in women all over the world. I plan on traveling and collaborating with other women within different industries to promote both mental and physical health.
